Letter Of Understanding - Auto Parts Sector
Preferential Hiring
The company and the Union recognize the importance of experience and skilled workers, in both production and trades jobs, as being essential to the success of the operations. Auto parts workers who have been laid off through no fault of their own possess a wealth of experience and readily transferable skills that can be applied to work in other auto parts facilities.
The company agrees to notify the union in writing with as much advance notice as possible before any hiring for bargaining unit work.
In the event of new hiring, the company will provide laid-off members from the workplace who have exhausted recall rights an opportunity to apply for openings. In the event that openings are not filled by former employees, the company will provide applicants who are laid-off Uniform members from auto parts facilities priority consideration as well.
